The school
The Barstow School is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory school in Kansas City, Missouri, serving students from preschool through grade 12. Its mission, rooted in 1884, emphasizes the balanced development of mind, body and character.
Barstow pairs rigorous academics with individualized learning and a strong STEAM culture. Robotics, student-produced media, the arts and global education allow students to connect academic work with creation, communication and real-world experience.

Learning in focus
Three parts of the school experience that are especially relevant to an international education partnership.
Barstow uses science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics as connected ways to investigate ideas, solve problems and communicate findings.
Robotics is a signature program, supported by design, prototyping, programming and engineering. The nearby IDEA Space extends that work into a dedicated innovation environment.
The student-run Barstow Television Network offers hands-on production experience, while global education and school partnerships bring an international dimension to campus life.
The CIC connection
CIC’s project directory documents several China partnerships carrying the Barstow name. Among them, the Ningbo campus created with Zhenhai High School is the most fully described example.
Other Barstow-linked profiles in the CIC directory include Jiangxi and Haishu. Each page describes a locally defined school or program rather than a single standardized campus model.
